INCUMBENT WORKER TRAINING ASSISTANCE
The Lower Savannah Workforce Investment Area announces the availability of Incumbent Worker Training (IWT) Assistance to local businesses under the provisions of the Workforce Investment Act of 1998 and with guidance from the South Carolina Department of Commerce. The purpose of this IWT Assistance Program is to provide resources for employers to train currently employed workers in an effort to keep businesses and workers competitive. IWT provides funding for training needed in current businesses due to expansion, new technology, retooling, new product lines, and new organizational structuring. IWT may also fund training in new businesses, if those jobs are ineligible for assistance through the Center for Accelerated Technology and Training (CATT). In addition, the IWT Assistance Program may provide financial assistance to help local businesses with their job profiling needs, if the business has not been a customer of the one-stop system or the job is a high demand occupation and a profile does not already exist in the region. Private Sector Businesses located in the counties of Aiken, Allendale Bamberg, Barnwell, Calhoun and Orangeburg faced with changing skill requirements and/or skill gaps caused by new technology, retooling, new product lines, and new organizational structuring may be eligible. To find out if your business is eligible, you must complete and forward an application for IWT Assistance by May 16, 2008 to: Mr. Samuel "Sam" R. Jordan, WD Administrator
Lower Savannah Council of Governments Attn: IWT Program PO Box 850 Aiken, SC 29802-0850 Applications received after May 16, 2008 will be placed on a contingency list for future consideration, as funds become available.
