Join the Network!
The LSWIA program has launched the One-Stop Nonprofit Network initiative to help local libraries, nonprofit organizations and churches access federal and state resources. By joining the network, you will be connecting the people you serve to a wide array of social service programs offered by the federal government.
There are currently several opportunities for involvement. Additional programs are under development and will be announced soon. To register for the One-Stop Nonprofit Network, contact Ketuni Gladden at 1-800-846-6001 (TTY: 771) or gladdenk@ctc.com.
Grant Writing Training Workshops
Funding from the US Department of Labor and other sources provide vital revenue for employment services and community projects. These highly-competitive grant programs offer nonprofit organizations opportunities to build new initiatives and capabilities. This year, the One-Stop Nonprofit Network is sponsoring grant writing workshops in the region targeted at these types of grant programs. These full-day workshops will cover everything you need to get started with government and foundation grant programs as well as provide advanced instruction for those already experienced with grant proposal development. Topics include:
- Finding funding opportunities
- Writing winning inquiry letters
- Developing solid program goals and objectives
- Tips for successful proposal writing
- And more…
Currently, one grant writing workshop has been scheduled at the following time and location:
Date: July 31st, 2008
Time: 9:00 am to 4:00 pm
Location: Orangeburg OneStop Career Center
Cost: $20 (covers catered lunch and training materials)
PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED Spots are limited so register soon to reserve your spot. Limit 2 individuals per location.
One organization who attends the training will receive $500 to support an employment-related program activity. As part of the training, attendees will work through actual draft grant proposals to gain hands-on experience in applying the topics covered during the workshop. Attendees can use these working sessions to develop a proposal for the $500 “grant” or a proposal of their own choosing – so bring your ideas and be ready to write!
